Tools for Success (Fall 2001) Maraziti, Falcon & Healey, LLP joined forces with the engineering firm of Blasland, Bouck & Lee, Inc., to co-host a conference on Redevelopment in New Jersey in Cherry Hill on October 30, 2001. Speakers included members of both firms, as well Mayor Joseph Vas of Perth Amboy, William Best, the Executive Director of the New Jersey Redevelopment Authority, Mark Remsa, Regional Planning Coordinator, Burlington County and David G. Murphy, Director, Regional Development, Delaware River Port Authority.
Joseph J. Maraziti, Jr. and Diane Alexander (Fall 2001) spoke at the New Jersey Water Environment Association Technology-Transfer Seminar on October 30, 2001 at the Tinton Falls Holiday in on the topic of Watershed Rules/Water Quality Rules-EO109.
Leah Healey (Fall 2001) spoke about waterfront redevelopment at a conference held at Stevens Institute of Technology on October 25 entitled “Revitalization of Urban Shorelines."
Leah Healey (Fall 2001) spoke on the topic of waterfront revitalization at the “Greenways in the Arthur Kill Watershed” conference sponsored by the NJ Conservation Foundation and the NJDEP in Kenilworth, New Jersey on October 16.
(Fall 2001) On September 25, 2001, Leah Healey spoke on redevelopment topics at both the New Jersey Association of Housing and Redevelopment Authorities Annual Conference and the Governor’s Conference on Housing and Development held in Atlantic City.
David J. Ruitenberg (Summer 2001) re-joined MF&H in July 2001. David had left the firm in May 2000 to act as General Counsel to his family’s company, Ruitenberg Displays, Inc. As he states it, though, he missed the “hub-bub” of private practice and so we are pleased that he has returned. David originally joined the firm in 1992.

(Summer 2001) The firm is delighted to announce that Susie Matos has returned to Maraziti, Falcon & Healey as legal assistant to Leah Healey, Albert Telsey and David Ruitenberg. Susie previously worked for the firm from January 1998 - January 2000, and was enticed to return to us in June. Clients and friends may remember Susie by her maiden name - Susie Duraes - which changed in May 2001, when she married Eugene Matos. Welcome back Susie!
(Spring 2001) The firm is proud to announce that Diane Alexander has become a partner. Diane has been with the firm since 1988, and since that time has been instrumental in building the firm’s environmental compliance practice. Along the way, Ms. Alexander has developed an outstanding reputation in her practice area and is well known as an advocate in the water and wastewater compliance arena. She is highly regarded among her many public and private clients and state and federal regulators as well as her peers in the bar. She is particularly well known for her involvement over the last several years with the Association of Environmental Authorities in revising the New Jersey Water Quality Standards and Permitting Rules and Watershed Planning Rules. Ms. Alexander will continue to lead Maraziti, Falcon & Healey’s environmental compliance practice in addition to serving as an advisor to the firm’s growing redevelopment practice with respect to wetlands and land use issues.
Joseph J. Maraziti, Jr. (Spring 2001) participated in a “Crossifre” style panel moderated by Michael Aaron, New jersey Network Correspondent, at the State Plan Summit, co-sponsored by the New Jersey State League of Municipalities on May 22, 2001 at the College of New Jersey.
Brent T. Carney and Kimberly A. Kearney (Spring 20001) co-authored “Reclaiming the Wasteland” an article on redevelopment, which was published in the New Jersey Law Journal in March.
