Newark Community Economic Development Corporation CEO/President Aisha Glover; Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr.; Newark Mayor Ras J. Baraka; New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection Commissioner Bob Martin; James Corner Field Operations CEO/Founding Partner James Corner; and Acting Deputy Mayor/Director of Economic and Housing Development Carmelo Garcia broke ground on Phase IV of Newark Riverfront Park. The next phase of the Park, designed by the renowned landscape architects at James Corner Field Operations, runs from Penn Station north along the Passaic River, ending adjacent to NJPAC. In addition to providing clean, green space, in a city which has been underserved for years, it will feature amenities such as volleyball courts, a beach area, performance space, a splash pad and dog walks, and will help to connect Downtown Newark, its residents and visitors, to the River. Maraziti Falcon is working with the City on the acquisition and remediation of land for the Park.
